Welcome to The Outpost
PUBLICATION
#003
Welcome to Issue #003 of The Outpost from Apocalypse Warehouse.
This week, we’re putting preparedness to the test.
Could the U.S. really face an 18-month blackout? We’re digging into where the claim came from, what the actual risk looks like, and whether there’s really anything to worry about.
Plus, we’re putting real preparedness skills and gear through their paces: what the NOLS Wilderness First Aid course is actually like, which water-storage system wins in our AquaBrick vs. WaterBrick field test, and what happens when you turn a real property into a functioning homestead with the Homestead Simulator.
And finally, you voted. We’ve got the results of the next giveaway.
Here’s what’s inside.

The 18 Month Blackout Claim
COULD AMERICA REALLY GO WITHOUT POWER FOR 18 MONTHS?
An 18-month blackout sounds almost impossible. Yet the claim is making the rounds—and it raises a bigger question: how vulnerable is the power grid to a truly prolonged outage? We dig into where the 18-month figure comes from, what could actually cause a blackout of that scale, what happened during recent outages, and how concerned you really need to be.
